Douglas Volovar, Director of Athletics and Supervisor of Health & Physical Education
Mr. Volovar was recently appointed to the position of Director of Athletics and Supervisor of Health & Physical Education for the Pittsgrove Township School District. He began this new role effective January 29, 2021. Previously, Mr. Volovar served in the district as the Assistant Principal at Arthur P. Schalick High School. He served in this capacity from May 1, 2013 until January 28, 2021. Prior to joining the Pittsgrove Township School district, Mr. Volovar was an employee of Millville Public Schools. His position in the Millville Public School district was as a Vice Principal of Attendance and Discipline at Millville Senior High School. He maintained this position for five years. Mr. Volovar also worked in the Cumberland Regional school district for eight years. While at Cumberland Regional, he was a teacher of Health & Physical Education and also the Coordinator of the Health & Physical Education department. During his eight years at Cumberland Regional, he also coached many sports including basketball, football, golf as well as track & field. He began his journey in education by working for the state as a Health & Physical Education teacher at the YCS schools in both Atlantic and Cape May Counties. Mr. Volovar earned his undergraduate degree from Rowan University in Health and Exercise Science. He holds a master’s degree from Wilmington University in School Leadership. Mr. Volovar is a graduate of Cumberland Regional High School.
MelissaBonham, Supervisor of Instruction (STEM)
Melissa Bonham joined the district as the Instructional Supervisor for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics in September 2015. Prior to her employment at Pittsgrove, Ms. Bonham was an Agriculture and Biology Teacher for Cumberland Regional High School for 8 years. While at C.R.H.S., she served as a coach for the girl’s tennis team for 5 years, co-advisor for A-Team Tutoring, and on a host of committees. In 2014 she was named the district’s Teacher of the Year. In addition, Ms. Bonham worked as a researcher for the Rutgers Agricultural Research and Extension Center in Upper Deerfield from 2000 to 2007. Ms. Bonham, a lifetime area resident, is a graduate of Cumberland Regional High School, and earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology from Monmouth University in 2001. In 2005, she completed her Master’s of Science in Biology from Rutgers University. She completed the Supervisor Certification Program through Rowan University in May 2015.
Erika Kirschner-Stabile, Supervisor of Humanities and ESL
Mrs. Kirschner-Stabile serves as the Supervisor of the Humanities and ESL (Grades 6-12) for the Pittsgrove Township School District effective January 2023. Previously, Mrs. Kirschner-Stabile served as the Assistant Principal at Pittsgrove Township Middle School for the past 7 years. In this position, her responsibilities included attendance and discipline, I&RS Coordinator and School Testing Coordinator. She joined the Pittsgrove Township Administrative team in December 2016 as the Assistant Principal of Administration and Instruction, fulfilling responsibilities at both the Central Office and the Pittsgrove Township Middle School. Mrs. Kirschner-Stabile first joined the Pittsgrove School District in 2010 as Teacher of German at Arthur P. Schalick High School. During her six years as the German teacher, she coordinated the GAPP Exchange Programs, established the German National Honor Society and organized and conducted the Induction Ceremony for German and Spanish from 2010 to 2016. In 2012, she was appointed as the Department Liaison for the Electives Department, including World Language, Music, Art and Computer Science and served in that capacity for 4 years. Prior to joining the Pittsgrove Township School District, Mrs. Kirschner-Stabile was an employee of Vineland Public Schools. She began her career as a Kindergarten ESL Teacher/High School German Teacher and the following school year transitioned to German Teacher at Vineland High School North, became the World Language Department Chair in 2005 and the Administrator of the School of Communications, Media & Technology Small Learning Community in 2007. Mrs. Kirschner-Stabile earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary/Secondary Education with specialization in World Languages and ESL at Rutgers University in 2003, and her Masters Degree in Administrative Leadership from the University of Phoenix in 2006.
Gina Baker, Supervisor of Early Childhood and Elementary
Mrs. Baker was recently appointed as Supervisor of Early Childhood and Elementary Education in November 2022. Before this, she was an Elementary Instructional Coach for Elmer and Olivet Schools for 3 years. As a coach, she developed and facilitated many differentiated professional development opportunities for teachers in both individual and whole group settings. Mrs. Baker began working as a teacher in Pittsgrove in 2008, where she taught in several special education settings at A.P. Schalick High School and Olivet Elementary. She has served on several school and district committees, working to enhance instructional outcomes. She started her career in teaching in 2005 in South Carolina. Mrs. Baker earned her Bachelor of Science in 2005 from Temple University in Philadelphia in Elementary Education. In 2019, she completed her Master of Arts in Special Education, as well as her Supervisor Certification Program in 2022, both through Rowan University.
Michelle Deaver, Supervisor of Exceptional Education
Mrs. Deaver currently serves as Supervisor of Exceptional Education for our district. Her responsibilities include supervising the exceptional education services in the district, working directly with families in transition to ensure McKinney-Vento services are in place as appropriate, guaranteeing educational stability for students and addressing residency concerns. She is responsible for nursing services and homebound instruction for students in medical need of this educational placement. She conducts services as a social worker. Mrs. Deaver earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Richard Stockton College of New Jersey. She holds a Master's degree from Widener University in Social Work. She also has a license in Social Work. Mrs. Deaver continued Graduate studies at Wilmington University and obtained her certification in Supervision.
